Introduction: A cohort study is a nonexperimental design used to investigate the outcomes of particular risk factor. They help researchers understand prevalence, distribution, and correlation variables in population function by following participants over period time, typically years. Utility: The results well-designed observational studies are comparable those randomized controlled trials. Among some strengths ability measure incidence rates, allow for wide range be examined. In addition, one can examine disease progression natural history because their longitudinal characteristic. Specifically, they advantageous rare exposures since subjects chosen based on exposure status monitored throughout any changes caused said exposure. Although infer relationship between variables, do not confirm causality. Challenges: One greatest challenges posed considerable amount time funding required conduct them as require large samples. Other include, but limited to, maintaining follow-ups accounting withdrawals, minimal control that being studied Limitations: Variables may measured incorrectly or inconsistently, resulting information bias. For diseases with extensive latency periods, this strategy ineffective cannot establish causation have completely manifested it takes study.
